Neither the canonical texts nor the commentaries assign any event to this year: the Buddha taught a great many discourses during his twenty-odd years at Sāvatthī, but the texts record only the place and not the year, so they can only be assigned as a whole to Years 21 to 44 after the Awakening; see “Texts of the Sāvatthī Years”.
The Rains Retreat
According to the later commentaries, in his later years the Buddha makes the Jetavana and the Eastern Park at Sāvatthī his fixed places for the rains retreat, and this year is spent there too; one reading of the Chinese instead places this year's retreat in the , the second of four successive retreats there.
