The Chinese Dharmaguptaka Vinaya records that when the Buddha set out from Rājagaha on a journey, Gavampati cut off the flow of the river by his supernormal power so that the Buddha and his company could cross the Ganges; they then passed through Pozhe and reached Ambapālī's grove (Anpoluopoti) at Vesālī. This route resembles the Buddha's journey from Rājagaha to Vesālī in his last year, but the text gives no year. Taishō Canon
Different Accounts
This passage was formerly cited as a variant account in the two last-journey entries “The Buddha crosses the Ganges by supernormal power” and “Ambapālī invites the Buddha to a meal”; it is now given an entry of its own for cross-reference.
Dating
The year is unknown, and there is no range from which it could be estimated, so no age is given. The text gives no time, and whether it is the same journey as the last journey cannot be determined.
